Who Does What

DIY Plan

You (the caveator) file the petition yourself at the court registry, as a party-in-person. Once filed, you are responsible for obtaining the caveat number from the court and for tracking its status and liveness for the full 90-day validity period. FileCaveat's role is limited to drafting the petition and preparing the supporting document set.

Full Service Plan

Our advocate signs and files the petition on your behalf at the court. Filing is the extent of the advocate's service — you (or the caveator) remain responsible for following up with the court registry regarding the assigned caveat number and for monitoring its liveness. FileCaveat sends automated expiry reminders at 10 and 5 days before the 90-day validity period lapses, but does not proactively track case status with the court.

Common Questions

Which plan should I choose?

If you are comfortable visiting the court yourself to file the petition, the DIY plan gives you everything you need at a lower cost. If you prefer end-to-end handling — especially if you are in a different city or unfamiliar with court procedures — the Full Service plan is the right choice.

Can I change my mind after payment?

Please contact us within 24 hours of payment if you wish to cancel or upgrade. Cancellations after drafting has begun may be subject to a partial charge.

What courts does FileCaveat serve?

We currently file caveats in district courts across Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, and Delhi. Contact us if your court is not listed.

Is my payment secure?

Yes. Payments are processed via Razorpay, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified gateway. We accept UPI, net banking, credit/debit cards, and wallets.

Legal Disclaimer: FileCaveat is a legal assistance platform, not a law firm. The advocate providing services is an independent enrolled advocate. Filing a caveat does not guarantee any court outcome. All Caveat Petitions are drafted and reviewed by the advocate before filing. Under the DIY Plan, the caveator files the petition themselves and is solely responsible for tracking the caveat number and its liveness with the court. Under the Full Service Plan, the advocate's role is limited to filing the petition — follow-up with the court regarding the caveat number and its liveness remains the client's responsibility. By using this service, you agree to our terms of service.
